The specialist team at Polydeck have once again been contacted by a local government for our leading non-slip solutions, this time in the form of Doncaster Council.

In our latest case study, we re-live how we were able to help Doncaster Council with one of their recent refurbishment projects, and provide details on how Polydeck can help you with any renovation work that you may have in mind!

Why did Doncaster Council contact the Polydeck team?

Doncaster Council needed a solution for two broken and rotting timber bridges – one in Fenwick and the other in Thorpe-in-Balne. They contacted Polydeck, an anti- slip flooring specialist, for a long-lasting GRP alternative.

Polydeck were happy to support Doncaster Council with their project and had the perfect solution in mind.

The hazardous bridges were replaced with anti-slip alternatives

Polydeck’s glass reinforced polyester (GRP) bridges are the best solution for replacing outdated, old timber bridges as they won’t rot or break, are anti- slip and can be supplied in kit forms for quick and easy installation.

The GRP bridge kits can be supplied with the base, rails and posts separately. They are light– weight so they can be carried by hand to tricky destinations, and then simply bolted together.

Polydeck’s GRP bridges also provide a host of additional benefits as well. Check out a full list of our GRP bridge advantages below:

  • No rot
  • Timber effect design
  • Anti– slip
  • Light– weight
  • Quick & easy to install
  • 30+ years life expectancy
  • Includes recycled materials

Doncaster Council’s existing timber bridges in Fenwick and Thorpe– in- Balne were removed, the foundations were set, and the replacement bridge was then easily and quickly installed.

Polydeck bridges have the added benefits of being manufactured to look like timber, so that they blend in well with the rural environment. Moreover, our GRP bridges also have a life expectancy 30 years and require no maintenance.

Martin James, Bridge Engineer at Doncaster Council, commented:

“These projects were made really simple by using GRP. They look great as well as promise more longevity than timber. I’m pleased we’ve invested in a material that promises a safe walking surface and requires no maintenance”.
