The damaged footbridge did not comply with key regulations

The stairs and footbridge of High Barnet Station had fallen into disrepair. Not only had they become slippery and dangerous, the existing anti-slip treads had also badly degraded and broken making them dangerous and non-compliant.

Replacement anti- slip stair treads was urgently needed.

Contractors Bryen & Langley Ltd, working on behalf of London Underground Ltd, needed a hard wearing, long lasting anti- slip product they could put their name to.

They contacted Polydeck, the anti-slip flooring specialists, for an ‘all in one’ solution.

Polydeck renovated the damaged footbridge to improve safety

Polydeck specified the use of their Extra Heavy-Duty Diamond Pattern treads with colour contrasting nosing and corduroy tactiles.

These products make up a complete anti- slip flooring system. The system ensures compliance with the Equality Act (2010) as it is colour contrasting, colour constant, anti– slip and extremely hard wearing.

The treads and tactiles are made from glass reinforced polyester (GRP) meaning they won’t rot or crack, are durable and can withstand heavy footfall.

The client chose Polydeck’s diamond pattern finish which is both aesthetically pleasing and extremely durable due to the double aggregate layer. Overall, the contractor was happy with the finished look. Tony O’Sullivan for Bryen & Langley Ltd commented

“Polydeck’s products are easy to install and look great”.
