In our latest case study, discover how the dedicated team at Polydeck provided the perfect solution for renovating one of the stairwells in Pitsea Station, Essex.

Why were the Polydeck team contacted?

B&M McHugh Ltd were the installers of choice for C2C Trains when their relatively new metal nosing failed on a staircase at Pitsea Station, in Basildon.  The existing metal nosing had not reacted well to bad weather and had consequently chipped and broken off in large parts on all of the stairs. The colour contrasting nosing was barely visible and as a result could not aid the visually impaired.

B&M McHugh Ltd contacted Polydeck, the anti– slip flooring specialist, for a solution to the failed nosing on platform 1. Polydeck suggested the use of their glass reinforced polyester (GRP) nosing.

Polydeck were able to provide durable anti-slip stair treads

Polydeck’s GRP nosing is a fantastic choice for use in public areas, mainly due to them being anti– slip and hard wearing.

Not only are Polydeck’s GRP nosings anti–slip and extremely durable, but they can withstand constant heavy footfall which inevitably reduces the risk of injury as they will not rot or crack, nor will they fade.

The nosings are colour constant meaning virtually no maintenance!

Permanently colour contrasting and colour constant nosing helps keep them Equality Act (2010) compliant as they will continually aid the visually impaired.

Polydeck’s tailor made nosing can be ordered in any size, colour, size or finish so it can be ordered to suit almost any external step. Being manufactured in the UK also means that we can produce it quickly and deliver it directly to site. Check out anti-slip stair nosings in closer detail.

Contracts Manager Craig Dice for B&M McHugh Ltd commented:
