RIGHT OF WAY FOOTBRIDGES
Ensure Safe Footbridges With Polydeck
POLYBRIDGE is a complete structural and load-bearing GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester) bridge, designed to completely replace exiting timber footbridges which are rotting. The POLYBRIDGE is constructed in a kit form and supplied to site in various build stages dependant on the location. Polybridge can be supplied up to 5 metre lengths and in a standard width of 1 metre. Non standard sizes are available on request. They will achieve a loading criterial of 2.5kN per square metre with a less than 1/200 deflection. The Polybridge is constructed from a range of pultruded GRP profiles which are then bolted together to form the complete bridge. Post and top rails are re-injected with extra glass laminate and are designed with a wood grain effect. The POLYBRIDGE does not rot and has a design life of 30 years. The POLYBRIDGE is supplied with non rotting bridge decking planks or Boardwalk Planks which provide the anti-slip walking surface. Available in a range of colours and finishes.
Footbridges provide a safe crossing for pedestrians, over hazardous ground such as rivers, highways and railways. With numerous types of footbridges available, Polydeck GRP composite bridges – Polybridge – is designed to replace rotting timber footbridges.
A simple suspension footbridge is supported by anchors at either end. The deck is held in a curve design, with ropes to form a handrail and they are often found in areas over water.
Where the whole bridge doesn’t need to be replaced but the surface does, the quality of the decking is key for pedestrian’s safety. Polydecks GRP composite decking planks are manufactured with slip-resistant and highly durable properties, making them the ideal option for a simple renovation on a suspension bridge. With a lightweight finish, the GRP decking planks have a high resistance to mould and rot and will not splinter. Needing very little maintenance they are a perfect solution for a simple suspension bridge in a remote area or a location hard to preserve.
Built close to the ground, GRP Boardwalks are often found in rural areas for pedestrians to avoid muddy or wet ground. They are a necessary bridge for walkers exploring the country, and it is vital they maintain a safe and lasting surface. A Boardwalk will not take away the aesthetics of your traditional timber bridge, as it retains the appearance of timber decking without the associated downfalls.
Similar to a Boardwalk, a zig-zag bridge is formed of wooden planks and supported by posts. However, they follow an alternate structure where the decking is placed at an angle, changing directions from left to right in relation to each other. If your zig-zag bridge is used to overlook a pond feature, Polydeck’s GRP decking is the perfect solution if you’re looking for a durable but aesthetically pleasing material. Designed with a wood grain effect and available in your choice of colour and finish, it offers an anti- slip surface that will last 30 years.
Moon bridges were originally designed for pedestrians to cross canals, whilst boats and barges could pass through underneath. Designed in a very high arch, stability is required for safe walking. The anti-slip properties in Polydecks products can ensure safety for pedestrians when using a moon bridge.
Handrails are vital for pedestrians using a moon bridge and these can be provided by Polydeck using the GRO alternative. Post and top rails are injected with extra glass laminate, making theme an ideal solution for the restoration of your footbridge.
