Kew Bridge Station in London contacted Polydeck regarding a new main access walkway refurbishment. The existing timber anti-slip floor on their premises was wearing away, and water was starting to rot the structural timbers which, in turn, made the structure weak and potentially dangerous. Sumo Glazing Contractors, who work on behalf of Network Rail, recommended Polydeck’s Glass Reinforced Polyester (GRP) structural decking planks to help rectify the problem.

As existing clients of Polydeck, Sumo Glazing Contractors were familiar with our product range and knew that the decking planks would provide a perfect solution with limited possession time.

Anti-Slip Non-Rot Walkways

The access ramp was fixed with Polydeck’s diamond effect, structural load bearing GRP decking planks. 45mm in length, the thick planks are produced to withstand load bearing requirements of 5kN per square meter with less than a 1/200 deflection.

The diamond-effect planks are a great alternative to timber as they are made from Glass Reinforced Polyester. This means that because there is no wood, there is no rot, warping, bowing or bending. The panels are lightweight and are quicker and easier to install, which is of vital importance when dealing with a limited installation time. This is what Sumo Glazing Contractors had to say about our Bridge Decking Planks and Polydeck’s service:

“We’ve used Polydeck’s products before, so we know the planks will deliver what’s promised”.
